During the summer season, the beaches of Jurmala will host free health promotion activities.
In order to promote a healthy lifestyle, the Jurmala municipality has been holding various events under the guidance of certified trainers and lecturers for several years.
Residents and guests of Jurmala can do Nordic walking, street gymnastics, qigong, yoga and other types of physical activity for free.
Classes are open to everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.
Yoga
This summer, yoga classes will be held on Wednesdays at 18.30 on Dubulti Beach, at the end of Baznicas Street, on the right; on Fridays at 8.30 in the Lielupe beach recreation area, at the end of Ezeru street; and on Saturdays at 8.30 am at Kauguri Beach, Kaptejņa Zolta Street 123, next to the lifeguard station. Yoga classes are led by Arnis Silins, Dace Matison and Sanita Silina.
Qigong
Popular qigong classes for residents and guests of Jurmala will be held twice a week on the Jurmala beach - on Tuesdays at 18.30 on the Melluži beach, at the end of Peldu street, and on Saturdays at 10 o'clock on the Kauguri beach, at the end of Kapteiņa Zolta street, at the rescue station . Classes are taught by certified qigong instructors Igor Kudryavtsev, Ilze Kalnina-Strupchenko and Natalia Krivchenkova.
Nordic walking
On Saturdays and Sundays, one and a half hour Nordic walking classes will be held. On the beach of Melluzi, at the end of Rozu street, at the exit to the beach, lovers of Nordic walking are invited to gather on Saturdays at 9 am; on Kauguri beach, at Kaptejna Zolta, near the rescue station, Nordic walking classes start on Saturdays at 11 am, On Dubulti beach, at the end of Baznicas street, Nordic walking enthusiasts are invited to classes on Sundays at 11.00. Nordic walking instructors are Maris Romanovskis and Aija Romanovska.
Street gymnastics
Street gymnastics classes are combined with general physical training, therefore they are suitable for everyone. They will take place on the Kauguri beach near the lifeguard station, opposite Kaptejnja Zolta street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18.00. and on Maiori Beach, at the end of Kaiyu Street, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 20.10. Classes are led by trainer Nauris Burtnieks.
Free classes for residents are part of the project "Measures to promote the health of the local population and prevent diseases in Jurmala", co-financed by the European Social Fund and Jurmala municipality.
