In less than a month, the Christmas market will open in Old Riga and the lighting of the main Christmas tree of Riga will take place!
On Saturday, December 2, the traditional Christmas market in Old Riga will open for the 23rd time on Dome Square. And on December 3, the first day of Advent, at 17:00 the official opening of the market and the lighting of the Christmas tree on Dome Square will take place. The market will operate until January 7, 2024. You will be able to feel the Christmas atmosphere, buy gifts and enjoy an extensive cultural program.
Every year the Christmas market becomes a meeting place for residents and guests of the city. Thousands of lights, special holiday decorations and Christmas music decorate the market, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. Here you can see and buy souvenirs, homemade products and crafts, as well as taste a variety of food and drinks from more than 80 vendors.
Latvian artisans will offer amber jewelry, knitted items, leather goods, wooden toys, candles and sheepskin items.
Also at the Christmas market in the Old Town you will be able to buy traditional holiday dishes and drinks - gingerbread, gray peas, sauerkraut, mulled wine, as well as pilaf, borscht, Belgian waffles, stuffed pancakes, Latvian fruit wines and other delicacies.
As in previous years, families with children are especially welcome at the market. As in previous years, on weekends, Riga residents and city guests will be greeted by Santa Claus and gnomes at the market. You will be able to ride a carousel, send a letter to Santa Claus, see live sheep and ride a pony.
