Estera Development plans to begin construction on the site of the former Riga Sports Palace at the end of this year or early next year. A project is currently being developed for the first building of six seven-story buildings with apartments and commercial premises.
Currently, vegetable gardens and orchards are preserved on the site of the former Sports Palace. Therefore, Riga residents have the opportunity to cultivate their own personal “oasis” in the very center of the city, say the authors of the idea of gardens in the Sports Palace quarter. And they add that the territory that was publicly accessible will become closed. In the next year or two, the gardens will be for the gardening community only. It is planned that those people who buy apartments in the project will have personal small gardens, and they will be able to continue the culture of gardening in the very center of Riga.
