On April 25th, the Riga City Council's City Development Department hosted a public discussion on the local planning for Ezerparks.
Ezerparks, located in Čiekurkalns and bordered by Rusova Street, Ķīšezera Street, Talejas Street, and Cirīša Street, encompasses 19 hectares. Vastint Latvia, the developer, aims to commence construction on the first 500 of a planned total of 1,800 apartments within the next three to four years.
The development is envisioned as a contemporary residential area featuring multi-apartment buildings and an office complex spanning 33,400 square meters. The plan also includes a three-hectare park accessible to the public, equipped with amenities such as bicycle paths, playgrounds, sports facilities, and areas for picnics and leisure activities.
“The development of the project will occur in phases over about ten years, reflecting socio-economic trends. We are looking to create around 1,800 apartments, providing a new community for approximately 4,000 residents,” stated Romāns Astahovs, Managing Director of Vastint Latvia.
Innovatively designed pedestrian walkways between the buildings will enhance the area, creating an internal park zone without fences. This open design will showcase modern urban living with freely accessible public spaces.
“Located within Riga's Priority Development Areas, Ezerparks aims to enhance the city's appeal and livability," added Astahovs. He emphasized that the integrated green spaces and recreational opportunities are central to the identity of the Ezerparks project.
Vastint Latvia acquired the property in 2019 and has since collaborated with a team of local and international experts to craft a sustainable development plan. The project has already secured approvals from eight out of eleven necessary institutions to begin creating a multifunctional residential and business complex.
Public consultation on the local plan runs from April 11th to May 14th of this year. Details and materials related to the plan can be accessed on the national unified geoportal: https://geolatvija.lv/geo/tapis#document_22312
